Our Khaki Campbell Ducks

Here at Cragg House Farm, we are proud champions for pedigree native breeds of livestock. Native breeds have characteristics that are better suited to our challenging climate and make a positive contribution to the ecosystem they have evolved to thrive in.

Khaki Campbell ducks are a British-developed, high-producing breed known for laying an average of 200-300 eggs per year, making them one of the best egg-laying duck breeds. They are hardy, agile, and excellent foragers, thriving in homestead and backyard settings. Created by Mrs. Adele Campbell in the late 1800s by crossing Indian Runners and Mallards, they are named for their characteristic "khaki" plumage, which resembles British army uniforms.

They are excellent at foraging for insects, slugs, and weeds, making them ideal for free-ranging.
