A warm, friendly welcome awaits you at Cragg House Farm for your trip to Buttermere. Here is some useful information to help your trip run smoothly - please save a copy prior to entering the valley as signal can be poor (often non-existent) in Buttermere.

Buttermere can be accessed via Newlands Pass from Keswick or via Lorton on the B5289. You can also enter the valley from Honister Pass too.
Travelling from Newlands Pass: Turn right at the bottom of the pass and you will cross over a bridge with the Bridge Hotel on your left. You will find Cragg House Farm (signposted) on your left, 200m up the hill from the bridge.
Travelling from Lorton: Follow the B5289 from Lorton. Look out for a left turn, signposted Buttermere. Follow this narrow road all the way to Buttermere keep a look out for the National Trust car park on your right. Once you pass the car park, we are the next turn on your right.
Travelling from Honister Pass: Head down the pass from the slate mine and follow the B5289 along the valley floor. Buttermere lake will appear on your left. You will eventually come to the village of Buttermere and a bridge (with the Bridge Hotel on your left). You will find Cragg House Farm (signposted) on your left, 200m up the hill from the bridge.
Parking
Camping Barn Guests: On arrival please drive into the farmyard to unload your belongings into the camping barn before parking your vehicle in the designated parking area - head out the main farmyard back onto the road turn left and then immediately turn left down onto the cobbles next to the farm barn. There is space for 3 large vehicles or 4 small vehicles.
Holiday Cottage: Drive down through the farmyard, passing between the farmhouse and a white shed. When you reach end of the farmhouse turn right and park next to your entrance to the property. Your car will be facing our garden wall with a shed and dog kennels on your left. There is parking for one vehicle.
Lake District Shepherd Experience: Drive down through the farmyard, passing between the farmhouse and a white shed. When you reach end of the farmhouse turn left and park in the yard. Your car will be facing the mountains and you will have a shed and dog kennels on your right. There is parking for two vehicles.
Goat Picnic: Drive down through the farmyard, passing between the farmhouse and a white shed. When you reach end of the farmhouse turn left and park in the yard. Your car will be facing the mountains and you will have a shed and dog kennels on your right. There is parking for two vehicles.
School Trips: We can park mini buses in the yard but have an arrangement with the National Trust for larger vehicles - full details are in your teacher information pack. Extra cars will need to use the National Trust pay and display car park next door to the farm.
