This isn’t a staged attraction — it’s a real working hill farm, and everything you see is part of daily life here.

🐑 Sheepdog Demonstrations

Watch our highly trained sheepdogs in action as they move and manage sheep across the field. Learn about the skill, communication and partnership behind traditional shepherding.

🐐 Meet the Animals

Get up close to our friendly farm animals, including:

• Native sheep and lambs

• Goats (and kids!)

• Oxford Sandy & Black pigs

• Poultry, chicks and more

A rare opportunity to properly meet and learn about the animals that produce our food.

🐴 Fell Pony Demonstration

Learn about the heritage and role of Fell ponies in upland farming, with a live demonstration and talk.

🎨 Children’s Activities

We’ll have plenty to keep younger visitors busy, including:

• Craft activities

• A farm-themed trail

• Hands-on experiences throughout the day

🌱 Plant Your Own to Take Home

Children can plant their own runner bean seed — a small but meaningful way to connect with food and growing.

🐕 Fun Dog Show (New for 2026!)

Bring your dog along and take part in our relaxed, friendly dog show.

🚗 Getting Here

We are located in Buttermere Village.

🚶‍♀️ We recommend parking in the village or National Trust car park and walking to the farm.
