Dog Training in the Lake District | Cragg House Farm, Cumbria

Dog training at Cragg House Farm is shaped by real life, real dogs, and real environments. Based in the Lake District, Cumbria, I offer practical, ethical dog training designed to help dogs and owners build calm, respectful relationships that work beyond the training field.

Dogs have been part of my life for as long as I can remember. Growing up surrounded by them, and now living and working alongside dogs every day, has given me a deep understanding of how dogs learn, communicate, and cope in the human world — from family homes to busy outdoor spaces.

I am a fully insured dog trainer in Cumbria, hold a current Pet First Aid certificate, and am committed to ongoing professional development to ensure my work reflects modern, evidence-based training practices.

My formal education has been completed with the Institute of Modern Dog Trainers (IMDT) — the UK’s leading education provider for dog trainers and behaviourists, and a Registered Learning Centre for the Open College Network. I continue to undertake regular CPD so that my training remains ethical, effective, and up to date.

Dog Training for All Dogs – Not Just Sheepdogs

While Cragg House Farm is home to working sheepdogs, my dog training services are for all dogs, not just working breeds.

I specialise in foundation dog training — the essential behaviours that make daily life easier and more enjoyable. This includes:

  • Focus and engagement

  • Reliable recall

  • Emotional regulation and calm behaviour

  • Confidence building

  • Clear communication between dog and owner

Training is designed to work in the real world — on walks, around livestock, with visitors, children, and other dogs — not just in controlled environments. My approach supports both dogs and owners, helping people understand why their dog behaves the way they do and how to respond consistently and fairly.

Ethical, Modern Dog Training in Cumbria

All training at Cragg House Farm is rooted in modern learning theory, welfare-led methods, and clear communication. I believe good dog training should improve quality of life for both dog and owner, building trust rather than relying on force or outdated techniques.

I work closely with owners to create realistic training plans that fit everyday routines, rural living, and busy family life.

Working Towards IMDT Accreditation

I am currently working towards completing the IMDT Membership Assessment, with the aim of becoming an IMDT-accredited dog trainer — a recognised standard of professional knowledge, skill, and ethical practice.

Whether you’re raising a puppy, navigating adolescence, or strengthening foundations with an adult dog, my goal is always the same:
to help you build a calm, confident, and respectful partnership with your dog — here in the Lake District and beyond.
